SELF-CONFESSED!
The Inappropriately Intimate Comics of Alison Bechdel
Donna Gustafson, curator of American art at Rutgers' Zimmerli Art Museum, offers views an inside look into the museum's latest exhibition: Self-Confessed! Truly an exhibit for the twenty-first century, Self-Confessed! recognizes the work of a prominent LGBT woman artist while also placing the art of comics and cartoons into a space more often associated with "fine art". Alison Bechdel's graphic memoirs and comic strips explore the archiving of the self, conveniently documenting memories in little boxes accompanied by texts.
