Nestled between Romania and Ukraine is a small, boot-shaped country whose name, if brought up in casual conversation, would not change its foreignness and anonymity to most. The Republic of Moldova, a former member state of the Soviet Union--and, it should be noted its chief wine producer--finds itself in a far more complex sociopolitical situation than appropriate for a country hardly encompassing 13,000 square miles.
