THE ART OF TOM NUSSBAUM
Tom Nussbaum's current work is treated by Western folk art, patterns in old American game boards as well as textiles' form and color. Trained in both ceramic-making and framing houses, Nussbaum's work often takes on an abstraction of vessel forms. He draws structural similarities between his sculpted and welded vessels with both architectural forms and the human body. His work can be recognized from its spontaneity, saturated color palette, and mastery of pattern and form. His work can be separated by two practices: studio pieces exhibited in museum galleries as well as private collections and public art (which can be seen in Tom Nussbaum: American Artist and the episode dedicated to it below).
